Badji Band is a band created by Senegalese kora musician Ablaye Badji.

Ablaye Badji is a multi-instrumentalist, a member of the famous Cissoko griot family. In West African societies, griots act as cultural ambassadors who carry people's cultural knowledge and identity.

They are speakers, songwriters and musicians who are also respected as a source of advice and spiritual guidance. They play an important role in key ceremonies such as naming ceremonies and weddings. Ablaye's love of music was inherited from his grandfather, Kemo Cissoko, one of the greatest benefits of his generation, and his mother, Ma Awa Cissoko, a traditional singer who took him to concerts before he could even walk. Ablaye was born and grew up in Ziguinchor, Senegal. Surrounded by the cultural richness and music of his ancestors, Ablaye began his musical education by exploring the secrets of playing traditional instruments such as djembe, sabar, seourouba. The family home, which had many brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles, aunts and elders, was constantly filled with music. This musical immersion in such a natural environment as a child laid a solid foundation for Ablaye's musical development. International tours with his uncle's The Golden Kora Band took Ablaye's musical prowess to the next level. The artist has been living and creating in Poland for ten years, where, through personal and collective experiences, he has built a unique musical identity, between tradition and experimenting with contemporary music. The notes he played solo, in duets or with bands could be heard on various stages. Ablaye has performed with many famous artists such as:

Richard Bona (bass), Solo Cissokho (kora), Seckou Keïta (Kora), James Karter (saxophone), Maria Pomianowska (suka) , Piotr Damasiewicz (trumpet), Mela Koteluk (singer), CBB Ensemble (band), Foliba (band).

Ablaye Badji released his first mini album (EP) "Sabaro" in 2015. In 2022, his last single "Natural" saw the light of day. Currently, the musician is working on material for the latest album, which will be released this year!
