Newen Afrobeat will perform at African Beats Festival 2023! We are happy to announce that one of the best afrobeat bands will play in Kawęczyn!
Newen Afrobeat is a 13-member Chilean orchestra that creates music inspired by the legacy of Nigerian musician Fela Kuti. With a particular Latin stigma, Newens unite African rhythms with a colorful and energetic staging, embedded in a deep social message that speaks of their roots and social movements in their country. With a 10-year career, four albums and 8 international tours behind them, Newen have performed on major stages such as the Montreal International Jazz Festival, WOMEX, Africa Oyé and Felabration Lagos, becoming the most played Afrobeat band in the world. They have been widely recognized on the world music scene. Newen Afrobeat is more than just an orchestra, it is an experience of music, dance and social awareness.
Newen Plays Fela vol. II (2021) is the second EP and the fourth album by the Chilean orchestra Newen Afrobeat performing songs by Fela Kuti. The album features two of Fela's most iconic songs with a special appearance by Seuan Kuti, who will also perform at this year's festival. A true work of musical art that extends Fela's legacy to new generations and territories.

It was a great attempt at cultural integration between Latin America and Africa. Currently, Newen Afrobeat is finishing the production of his new, original album, on which such recognized artists as Dele Sosimi, Joe Vasconcellos, among others. This album will be released and made available during the upcoming European tour in the summer of 2023.
